In Spring of 1891 Otto Lilienthal begun further experiments with a new apparatus. First standing exercises in the backjard of his house in Berlin-Lichterfelde followed first timid jump and landing exercises in his new experimantal area. As location he chose a hill near the rail road track between Werder and Groß-Kreuz near the tiny village of Derwitz. Our model shows this glider with which Lilienthal executed the first well done jumps in the air in its last form, after several repairs reduced the wingspann from 7,6 meters to 5,5 meters.
