Load Test On A Fokker E.III Steel Tube Rudder

After the rudder was loaded to the required load factor whithout showing any permanent deformation, we continued to load it to figgure out what will happen when it fails.

Although the rudder finaly was seriously damaged, the very clever design revealed that it still was easily controlable which proved that even with that degree of damage the plane still could be landed safely.
